I came across Bones Coffee Company through an ad on Youtube. Normally I'm not a fan of scary things. For example, I don't really watch scary movies. If my husband attempts to purchase a t-shirt or any item of clothing that has a depiction of a skeleton or bones I always veto it. When I was teaching 1st grade, one of my students was telling me about a movie he watched over the weekend. When I asked him if I should watch it, he very seriously responded, "no, it's too scary for you. You wouldn't like it." He was probably right. : ) So, given that Bones Coffee Company is skeleton and bone-themed, you'd think I would steer clear of this coffee. However, the interesting flavors drew me in and I found myself purchasing the Five Sampler Pack. After great debate and consultation with my husband, we selected the following flavors...Here are our thoughts and ranking.
#5 Holy Cannoli Medium Roast-Freshly Baked Cannoli (description from website)
When it comes to cannoli, I will admit I am a tricky audience. My Mom is from New York and I would call her a cannoli connoisseur. Over the years, I have had my share of authentic Italian Cannoli. Therefore, I was so excited when I saw this flavor and had to get it! Alas, it was unable to meet my abnormally high expectations. The coffee had a light chocolate flavor but I wanted it to have more of the creamy cheese and powdery sugar goodness.
#4 Highland Grog Medium Roast-Butterscotch and Caramel (description from website)
If you are just getting into flavored coffee, this is for you. I personally had a hard time tasting the flavors and had to look up what they were. My husband has a more refined palate than mine and was able to pick up on the butterscotch. It was good but I wanted a more punchy flavor.
#3 S'Morey Time Medium Roast-S'Mores (description from website)
This one also had a light chocolately flavor but I could taste the graham crackers in there too. I realize that we probably should have chosen flavors that were more different. We got a few with chocolate flavors in them and as we went though, it started to get harder to differentiate the flavors.
#2 Cookies N' Dreams Medium Roast-Cookies and Vanilla (description from website)
Yummy! Tastes like an Oreo cookie. Would repurchase this one. This is a flavor that a lot of people probably like.
#1 Macamaniac! Medium Roast-Macadamia Nut and Coconut (description from website)
Our favorite! I had a feeling this was going to be the favorite. We got married in Hawaii and love everything Hawaiian. When we brewed this coffee, the whole room filled with the aroma of macadamia nut. The coconut flavor was very strong and slightly sweet with no bitterness. Super smooth and easy to drink. We would definitely repurchase this flavor.
Getting the five coffee sampler is a great way to get a feel for the brand. I like that they come in 4oz bags, so it 's enough to try it out more than once. For those who don't like flavored coffee, Bones Coffee Company also offers regular coffee. They even have k-cups and exciting limited edition flavors and collabs. Currently they have a collab with Sponge Bob! You will get lost in their selection online, but you can also purchase them in-store at a few places including Publix, Albertsons, Meijer and World Market. They also sell Cold Brew Lattes in cans at Walmart.
I love going to coffee shops, but trying new coffee at home is fun too. Next I'd like to try their regular coffee including a single-origin blend. Have you tried anything from Bones Coffee Company? Are there other coffee brands I should try? Let me know in the comments below.
Happy Coffee Time 💕Amy
